Bamboo at Quail Botanical Gardens

This beautful botanical garden is in La Jolla, not far from San Diego. We visited there in 2003. This is one of the largest collections of bamboo in the United States.

These are all clumping bamboos at Quail Botanical Gardens, located near San Diego, Ca.

This is a clumper that spreads out so far it looks like a tree.

This is most likely Mexican Weeping Bamboo

These culms were huge, some approaching 8 inches in diameter. The sheaths were very impressive, you can see one on the left of the picture.

This was the only runner we saw, P.vivax.
