Phyllostachys viridis - Pigskin BambooCalled "Pigskin" because of the dimpled texture of the canes. This bamboo is another of the giants, with beautiful light green canes. Makes a great grove that you can wander through. With white rings at each node, it has a distinct look. |

This grove of P.viridis is about 10 years old. It has been "groomed" to remove small and dead culms, leaving just these 2" and 3" canes. |
It's called "Pigskin" because the surface of the cane has a pebble like texture, similar to a football. Easier to feel than see. |
