Bamboo Nursery

Phyllostachys bissetii

David Bisset Bamboo (and Dwarf D.B.) is one of the most cold hardy bamboos and under good conditions cans stay green to -15. This bamboo has a unique look as the canes grow very close together forming a dense grove that is difficult to enter. P.bissetii matures into a large, vase shaped grove. This bamboo is a fast spreader. I find that I have to mow about 15 to 20 feet out around the grove to keep it contained.I first saw this bamboo at Steve Ray's farm and was inspired to plant my own grove. Along with Yellow Groove this is another very popular bamboo for very cold climates.
