Indocalamus tessalatusGiant leaf bamboo. Huge leaves up to 4" by 24". This bamboo will grow in heavy shade and is an ideal choice for erosion control. It is one of the more cold hardy bamboos, staying green down to -10 to -15 F. The canes can get up to 10 feet tall but it's growing habit tends to form a mound only about 5 to 7 feet tall. With it's huge leaves and dense growth, this bamboo makes a fine screen, though low in heigth. |

I.tessalatus planted along a small creek with an erosion problem. In 5 years the bamboo has about covered the washed out area. |
Giantleaf (I.tessalatus) growing in almost total shade. With it's low light tolerance for low light levels, it makes a great indoor plant. |
