Bamboo Nursery

Indocalamus latifolius

Broadleaf Bamboo, a great bamboo for a low screen. Growing well in shady areas and drought tolerant, we sell a lot of this bamboo to those who want a screen that's not so tall. My grove is about 8 years old and has never gotten over about 7 feet tall. As you can see it grows very dense, with pretty little canes making a beautiful bamboo screen. Best of all, it is very cold hardy and can handle temperatures as low as -5 F.

This bamboo has done exceptionally well at my place. I started with a three gallon pot, divided it when it doubled in size, divided it again the next year and now I've got it planted in too many places! It's just such a nice sized bamboo with that tropical look that my wife and I like so much. I've found it also does well in a container.

shady, northern side of the bamboo. The other side gets a few hours of sunlight. It averages
about 7 to 8 feet in heifth.
