Bamboo Fences

Bamboo has been used for fences for hundreds of years. Probably one of the earliest uses of bamboo was as and enclosure to keep animals in, or out, of an area. Bamboo fences have a unique position in Japan.

We built this fence to hide a garage. (How to build.)There are 5 panels, each about 10 feet long, completely hiding the shop.
The framework of post and rails have split bamboo halves attached with screws. We then covered the screws with the
horizontal pieces of split bamboo. The lower rockwork was done by my wife, Mickey.
